Weekly Update – 25/02/2022

Hey folks, I hope that you are all well. I quickly just want to share a devotional thought from last Sunday’s Morning Service before the update:

“This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.” – Titus 3:8

Let’s show the world around us that we have been changed by God’s grace by living out good lives that reflect the God we serve. Here’s the update for this week.

The Snodes and the Quinns in Turkey

As you can see in the photos above, the Snodes (and the Quinns of course) are having a great time in Turkey. I’m sure they have been a blessing to our brothers and sisters over there. We look forward to seeing them back with us, and let’s pray for their safety in travelling later on today (Friday 22nd Feb.).

Wednesday Night

On Wednesday night we finished our short series on “Prayer”. Although we only had a few people out, I found that it was an encouraging time together – after the Bible study, we gathered for prayer and it was a joy to hear the people praying according to what we have been studying. I was moved to hear some whom I have not heard pray publicly before. Although we’ve finished our series on “Prayer” we will continue to endeavour to be known as a people who pray.

Next Wednesday – and for the month of March – we will be studying the Book of Jonah, where we have the privilege of having some of the men from the church preach and teach the sessions. Please join us 7:00 PM if you are able to, so that our brothers who are starting out on preaching can be encouraged and supported – I’m sure they will be a blessing to us all.

This Weekend

On Saturday we have our Bible Institute at 9:00 AM. I’m continuing to teach “The Doctrine of Salvation” and Travis will hopefully be resuming his sessions on “Teaching the Bible”. This is followed by our weekly Community Outreach at 11:15 AM.

On Sunday, we have our usual services. We have our Small Groups at 10:30 AM, followed by our Morning Worship at 11:30 AM. After this we have our Members’ Meeting – so for those who are members of Downham Baptist Church, please come along and attend our Members’ meeting.

On Sunday evening, we have the privilege of having Ryan Strother as our Guest Speaker at 5:00 PM. We look forward to hearing what the Lord has to say to us through him.

That’s all for now, folks. Have an awesome rest of the day, and may the grace and peace rule your hearts.

Ric.
