Hey folks, I hope that you are all well. It’s an awesome opportunity to update you all with the Lord’s work here at Downham, and we have quite a few things to mention for this week, so with that in mind, here’s our weekly update.
Sunday Evening Guest Speaker
On Sunday Evenings we have another worship service and we have been going through Overviews of the Books of the Bible, however, on Sunday night just gone, we had a break from our series as we had a guest speaker. Our brother, Ryan Strother (from Community Baptist Church), and his family joined us, and we were blessed as brother Ryan ministered to us, speaking on how we glorify God in the church. We have been challenged to take seriously our Christian living so that we may walk worthy of the calling wherewith we have been called. Please pray for them as they are looking for a building they can purchase for their church.
Short Term Missionary
For the next six months, we have Bethany Norris from Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, with us at Downham. She is here to work alongside the Snodes, and to gain experience and insight in what it’s like to live and minister in the UK, with the hopes of becoming a long-term missionary here. Please pray for her, that the Lord would cause her to be fruitful in this endeavour, and that her time here with us would encourage and facilitate her growth in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus.
Wednesday Night
We started a new series for our Bible Studies, and for the month of March we are going through the Book of Jonah. Not only have we started a new series, we have also started training some of the men in the church to preach – specifically, we have three men are taking turns preaching through the Book of Jonah this month. Brother Jeff started us off with Jonah 1 on Wednesday night.
Our aim is to help our fellow Christians use their God-given gifts for the purpose of building each other up – that’s what we’re hoping to accomplish with training the men in preaching. Please support us, and the men we’re training, in prayer this month. We also welcome you all to join us 7:00 PM on Wednesday evenings to support the men in that way as well.
This Weekend
On Saturday, we have our Bible Institute at 9:00 AM. Travis will be teaching for 2 hours on “How to teach the Bible”. Afterwards we have the Community Outreach at 11:15 AM.
On Sunday, we have our usual services: Small Groups at 10:30 AM, Morning Worship at 11:30 AM, and Evening Worship at 5:00 PM.
