Hey folks, I hope that this update finds you well. It has been a little over a month since we last posted an update like this – like we mentioned In December, we will be doing Monthly Updates instead of Weekly Updates, and here we are.
Belated Happy New Year
Firstly, I know it’s very late, but we, at Downham Baptist Church, wish you all a very (bleated) Happy and Spiritually prosperous New Year. Although the world seems to have been turned upside down since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic back in 2020, what remains true is that God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. The world will change and decay, but our God remains. Just as He has always been in control, He is still in control, and He always will be. In light of that truth, we enter the Year 2023 with the knowledge and confidence that God holds us and guides us – He is our Shepherd, and we are His sheep.
A Few Visitors
Since the start of the year, we have had a handful of visitors at the church. While having visitors is fantastic, we are encouraged by how some of the visitors have stayed so far. It’s our desire to see these visitors saved, and if they are saved, we want them to grow in their love for the Lord Jesus and His word and it’s our hope that the Lord would use Downham Baptist Church to that end.
With that in mind, please pray for us as a church, that we would be a community that evidently shows that we are believers of the Lord Jesus through the expression of our love for others.
New Series – The Epistle to the Romans
Before December 2022, we finished our Sunday series on Second Samuel; throughout December we preached Christmas-themed messages, and now, we have started looking at Paul’s letter to the Romans. So far, we have only covered Romans 1:1-15, we are moving at a slower pace, but finding it beautifully refreshing to take the time to soak in the Scriptures. We are excited to find out more about the Righteousness of God and how that impacts us as believers over the weeks in our studies.
Wednesday Evenings
If you follow our YouTube channel, you will have noticed that we no longer stream/record our Wednesday Bible Studies. We are still meeting on Wednesdays, we are still studying Deuteronomy (almost at the end now with only 2 chapters left), and we are still praying together at the end. The reason why we don’t stream/record anymore, is because we have changed the layout to a more informal study/discussion.
