Monthly Update – April 2023

Hey folks, thanks for taking the time to read this month’s update. Since last month, we have been working at a slower pace (for various reasons that are mentioned in the previous update) but we are blessed to see growth and progression in small ways (men preaching, a baptism service – more details below). We are blessed to see God’s work in the lives of His people; and with that in mind, here’s the update.

Easter Services

Although we had very little planned for Easter, we still had a Good Friday Service, and we were privilege to remember the Lord’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday where we thought about why The Resurrection Matters.

Youth Pizza Party

Last month, brother Jeff organised a Photography Day Out for the Youth, where the participants were challenged with capturing images that best reflected the themes, “Man Made” and “Natural”. In order to celebrate and thank the youth for their participation, Jeff organised a Youth Pizza Party. Thank you to Jeff for your desire to reach the youth, and your desire to encourage those who are saved youth to pursue Christ.

Baptism Service

On Sunday 23rd April, we were blessed to have a Baptism Service. For safety reasons, and the request of the candidate, we didn’t record/stream the service, and there are no pictures attached to this Update. Regardless, the Baptism happened, as a church we celebrated a believer’s desire to walk in obedience to one of the Lord Jesus’ ordinances. We look forward to seeing God’s hand of goodness upon the candidate as they continue to walk by faith.

Preaching at Downham

This month, we have heavily interrupted our Sunday Series on Paul’s Letter to the Romans because of Easter, the Baptism Service, and two men from the church preaching. We look forward to getting back to our series, but I want to take this time to reflect on how God’s growing His people here at Downham despite us working at a slower pace. God has been working in the hearts of some of the men, giving them a desire to minister to their fellow saints through the preaching of God’s word.

That’s all for now. Please continue to pray for us here, that the Lord would build up His people that we might grow as a body that edifies itself in love. God bless you all.
