Christmas Poems

Two weeks ago at our Christmas meal, we had a poem writing challenge. We did not get a chance to read out the poems, so we wanted to pass these along for your enjoyment:

GROUP ONE

Christmas is a time I love

Bestowed on us from God above

In remembrance of Jesus’s birth

When He came to us on the earth

Jesus is the Christmas Star

The Wise men came near from far

To present the gifts; precious treasure

The sparking love beyond measure

The Lord, better than any tree

Told us to make Christians assembled be

Downham Baptist Church is great

Staying (there?) is only fate

A home for us to worship God

Who Shepherds us with a gracious road

Our King a blissful hope

In time of need He is our hope

My resolution for next year

Is to overcome all my fear

And present the Gospel to my friend

So they know what happens in the end

The poem’s over, here we go

I hope that I was nice to know

GROUP TWO

Christmas is a time I love

When family spend together and hugs

When so many present are unwrapped

And the New Year starts to be mapped

Christmas is a time to love

Jesus is the Christmas Star

There’s no Christmas without the Star

He is the very reason for the season

Come on celebrate the Star

Downham Baptist Church is great

Place to be

Great people attend

Christ-like love exists

Heavenly-bound we are

My resolution for next year

Although very many

I am resolute in fulfilling all

Not by will

But by His grace

I make a decision

to be a solution

To many problems

GROUP THREE

Christmas is a time I love

To give presents to everyone

All around the Christmas tree

Everyone sing with glee

Downham Baptist Church is great

Travis and Teri always pray and bake

My resolution for next year

To listen to everything

With both ears
