Weekly Update – 16/12/2022

Hey folks, I hope that you’re all doing well. We’ve had snow at the beginning of the week, and now it’s turned to ice – be careful walking out there. Many places are busier than usual during this season

Youth Christmas Party Update

On Saturday, just gone, we had our Christmas Party that our Deacon, Jeff, had organised for the youth. We had a great time together with some games, some food, and it was nice to see the youth take part in Secret Santa Gift Exchange.

Unexpectedly Busy Saturday

The Saturday, just gone, became busier than what we all anticipated. Jeff and Loveday organised a Men’s Breakfast at the Church Building. Not only did we feast together, but it was refreshing to have the men share testimonies of God’s work in their lives.

Afterwards, there was the prayer meeting at the Hipolito’s place. We gathered together for the purpose of praying; and in our praying, we acknowledged God’s goodness and our complete dependence upon Him. We spent time praying in praise and adoration, then we spent time in prayer for the needs of our church community as well as the salvation of those around us.

Then, of course, we had the Youth Christmas Party. Without intending it, we packed a lot in one day. We thank the Lord for His grace through it all – I don’t think we could have done it otherwise.

Christmas Day Service

This year, Christmas Day falls upon a Sunday. Some may be wondering, “Will there be any services on at Downham?” – the answer is “YES!”. We will have a shorter service for Christmas at 11:00 AM, ending at 11:45 AM, allowing people the time to get home and spend time with their families for Christmas Dinners.

No Services On The Following Dates:

  • Wednesday 28th December
  • Sunday 1st January
  • Wednesday 4th January

The reason as to why we won’t have services on the dates mentioned above is because a lot of people in the church will be away visiting family. It’s one of the peculiarities of being a multi-cultural and multi-ethnical church in a place like London – not many people are from here, meaning everyone’s travelling away for family reunions.

This Weekend:

Saturday – A reminder that we don’t have Community Outreach, but we do have a Prayer Meeting at the Hipolito’s Place at 10:30 AM. Afterwards, we’ll have lunch together and we’re planning on watching a Christmas Movie. Come and join us 🙂

Sunday – We look forward to gathering for the purpose of worshipping the Lord Jesus. We have our Small Groups at 10:30 AM, followed by our Worship Service at 11:30 AM.

That’s all for now. We love you all with the love of the Lord.

Ric.
