Weekly Update – 18/11/2022

Hey folks, how are you all this week in November? We have had terrible weather throughout the country, with rain lashing it down – as inconvenient as it was, we are thankful for the reminder our God has sway over the storms (real storms and the storms of life) and we are blessed for the sunshine that it’s given way to. Here’s an update of the work here in Downham.

Update On The Building Situation

As many of you are aware, we do not own the building we occupy (the Churchdown Centre), but are renting. The members of Downham Baptist Church voted in early October to not pursue the purchase of the Churchdown Centre – after much counsel, discussion, and prayer, we have deemed it unwise try and purchase the building. We are hoping that, by God’s grace, we can continue renting and using the building – please be in prayer for us and with us. If you have any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to contact us via email (info@downhambaptist.org).

Thank You Party for the Quinns

On Saturday afternoon, after the Community Outreach, our church held a “Thank You” party for the Quinns at the Hipolito house. We have been blessed with the Quinns during their time with us at Downham and we wanted to express our love and thanks by throwing them this party. We enjoyed our fellowship with them, we sang with them, and we prayed with and for them.

Please continue to commit the Quinns to the Lord in prayer as they labour in Colchester, and as they move houses.

P.S. Sorry that I don’t have a picture to include in this section.

Changing the “Weekly Update”

There have been weeks where a month’s worth of events take place, and there have been weeks where nothing has happened. In light of this, and to keep things a little simpler, we are going to change our “Weekly Updates” newsletters to “Monthly Updates”, starting in the New Year. This means that from January onwards, instead of receiving an update every week, it will be once a month, with the exception of special notices.

If we have any announcements to make before the Monthly Update, we’ll notify everyone we can through our Church WhatsApp and by posting a one-off newsletter/update.

Upcoming Youth Christmas Party

Of course we can’t have Christmas without celebrating. Our Deacon Jeff is organising a Christmas Party for the Youth (and for the young at heart who want to join). It will be on Saturday 10th December. Save the date, spread the news, and more details to follow.

This Weekend

Saturday – Join us for our weekly Community Outreach. We will be meeting at the Church Building for 11:15 AM. We have a few more leaflets/invites to hand out – it’s a blessing that we’re running out because it means that we have distributed quite a lot. Please pray for the unsaved at Downham as we continue to reach out.

Sunday – We have our Small Groups at 10:30 AM, followed by our Worship Service at 11:30 AM. Let’s worship the Lord together as we gather, and let’s continuously worship our Almighty God every moment of every day.

Prayer Requests:

  • Effectiveness in our Outreach – we desire to see souls saved.
  • The building situation (see the section above).
  • The Quinn Family (see the section above).

That’s all for now folks, thank you all for your continued support. We love you.

Ric
