In Honour of Queen Elizabeth II

It’s a solemn time throughout the whole country as we all mourn the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Although we are saddened by this news, we rejoice as we think of the life she lived, and the faith that she professed, and her witness to countless millions over the years – Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II has fulfilled her duty, and we thank the Lord for her faithful service to this country, and to Him.

After all that I’ve read about her, I’m persuaded that she was a believer and follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, and so to be absent from her body means to be present with the Lord – our Queen now gazes upon the face of the King of Kings, awaiting the resurrection.

In honour of Her Majesty, and ultimately, to follow the commands of Scripture in 1 Timothy 2:1-4, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth”, Downham Baptist Church will be observing the following over the Weekend, along with:

Saturday:

  • A time of prayer for the Royal Family, for His Majesty King Charles III, for our country, and for our government. This will take place after the Community Outreach. We shall meet at the Church Building for Outreach at 11:15 AM, and then at 12:30 PM for our Time of Prayer.

Sunday:

  • Our Small Groups at 10:30 AM will be predominantly spent in prayer for the Royal Family, for His Majesty King Charles III, for our country, and for our government.
  • We shall observe a Minute’s Silence at the start of our Worship Service.

That’s all for now in light of this event. No services and events have been cancelled.
