Weekly Update – 12/08/2022

Hey folks, how are you all? Before the update, I just want to say a quick thank you to everyone for unceasingly praying for us – we are grateful and desperately in need of prayers at all times. I also want to say thank you to those who regularly help us in various different ways, from the cleaning and gardening to the outreach and evangelism – as well as various different ministries in the church that are often unseen. I thank the Lord for you all. Here’s this week’s update.

A Baby Dedication

Just a little over two weeks ago, a couple in the church, Jeremiah and Christiana, were blessed with a baby boy – making them a family of four. We rejoice with them, and we praise the Lord for His hand of goodness upon them. Last Friday evening, they had a family baby dedication, and my family and I were honoured in being invited to take part and to exhort Jeremiah and Christiana in their duties as Believing parents to raise their children up in the fear and in the admonition of the Lord.

We were blessed in so many ways that evening; one thing that particularly stands out is how we experienced the love and unity of believers. My family and I had never met Jeremiah’s and Christiana’s families prior to Friday, and yet because we were all believers, my family and I were welcomed as though they’d always known us. I’m reminded of the words of the Lord Jesus, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (John 13:35). We thank God for how Christ and His Gospel can bring people from different cultures and backgrounds and bind them in love. We long to see such a lifestyle grow and mature in ourselves and those around us so that a watching world may see Christ in us.

Plans for Reaching the Downham Community

During the last School Term before the Summer Holidays, we ran a Homework Club as a means of reaching the families in our immediate area. It didn’t go as well as we had hoped, but we endeavour to continue trying to reach the unsaved of Downham. We will not be starting Homework Club this coming School Term, however, we are planning on putting together a few social events in the near future with the hopes of engaging the local community with the Gospel. Please pray for us as we plan, that the Lord would send us workers, and that the Lord would be pleased to use us in seeing people saved here. We will update you all in the coming Weekly Updates.

This Weekend:

Saturday – We do not have our Community Outreach tomorrow, instead we have a Church Work Day. We will be meeting at the Church Building at 10:30 AM, and the plan is to work on the building. We have a list of things to do, but moreover, we want to use this as an opportunity for us to labour together, and in doing so live out the “one anothers” of Scripture.

Sunday – We invite you to join us for our Small Groups at 10:30 AM, followed by our Worship Service at 11:30 AM. We are also going to observe the Lord’s Table this Sunday just before the end of the Worship Service which means we will be together for a longer period of time this Sunday, so please plan accordingly.

Upcoming Events & Notices:

  • Wednesday – 17th August – Fellowship Groups
  • Sunday – 21st August – Bring & Share
  • Friday – 26th August (Last Friday of the Month) – Prayer Evening
  • Sunday – 25th September – Baptism Service

We thank you all, and ask for your prayers continually. We love you all in the Lord.

Ric
