Hey folks, I hope that you’re all doing well. The LORD has blessed us with great weather over the past week, and we are thankful for the opportunity to enjoy some sunshine and warmth. July has been eventful so far, here’s an update of the things that’s been going on here at Downham Baptist Church.
Induction Service
On Saturday, we had the privilege of having an Induction Service. With Travis and his family going back to America, the church has called upon myself to Pastor. We welcomed visitors from around the country to celebrate with us, as well as provide words of encouragement and exhortation. It felt like a family reunion, catching up with brothers and sisters in Christ who we don’t see on a regular basis. We have been blessed with fellowship and our hearts grow for our fellow believers.
My wife and I are excited to be a part of the LORD’s work at Downham. It’s our desire to see the saints at Downham grow, mature and conform to the image of Christ through the preaching of God’s word; as a result we also want to see the saints grow in their for love one another, forming a closer bond that a watching world could look at and know that we are the disciples of Christ because of our love for one another. Please pray for us in all of this. We covet your prayers so desperately.
Pastoral Visits
Travis and I have been visiting some of our church members as well as some of our regular attenders over the last two weeks and we will continue to do so, Lord willing. The aim is for us to get to know each other more, and facilitate the opportunity to stir one another up in love and good works, as we remind each other of the truths of Scripture as we meet outside of our formal church meetings. If you would like us to come and visit, please let us know – and we encourage you to meet with your fellow brothers and sisters so as to bless and them and be blessed by them.
This Weekend
Saturday – We don’t have our Community Outreach, however, we encourage you to live gospel-centred lives by evangelising and witnessing to people as a lifestyle. We do have our Flag Football Event.
Sunday – We invite you to worship with us corporately for our Small Groups at 10:30 AM, followed by our Morning Service at 11:30 AM. Just a reminder that we no longer have our Evening Services.
Prayer Requests:
- Homework Club – for wisdom and guidance for the School Term starting in September.
- For God to grow and build us up more at Downham.
- The Snodes – as they prepare to leave for America next month.
