Weekly Update – 15/04/2022

Hey folks, I hope that you’re all doing well. The Lord’s blessed us with good weather here in London, and we praise and thank Him for it. I’m here to bring you all another weekly update, so here’s what’s been going on at Downham Baptist Church:

Thank You!

So before the actual update, I would like to take this time to say “thank you” to everyone. Thank you to all who constantly and continuously labour with us and among us in our various ministries and church-related work. We rely upon every individual to take part in the work with us. Thank you to every one who helped with outreach (more on that in the next section below) since last week. Thank you to everyone who hold us up in prayer – we are in constant need of it. May the Lord bless you all for your efforts, and may we continue to about together as well as growing in our labour of love for the Lord.

Evangelism & Outreach

Since last week, we have been (as a church and individuals) doing a lot of door-to-door and leafleting work on the lead up to Easter. People from the church have taken handfuls of our Easter leaflets and have been posting them through people’s doors in their spare time throughout last week and this week just gone. I have been blessed to see the Lord’s people participate in this work.

Wednesday Bible Study

We have recently started our studies through the Book of Deuteronomy for Midweek Meetings. On Wednesday, Sam took us through Deuteronomy 1:6-3:29, giving us a recap of the 40 Years of Wilderness Wanderings for the children of Israel. If you were unable to attend, you can find the study online via our YouTube channel (here’s a link to the study: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzhKLsv5W8E).

Good Friday Service

Earlier today we had our Good Friday service at 10:30 AM. If you missed this morning (due to work and other circumstances), then we invite you to catch up through our YouTube channel (here’s a link to the Good Friday Service: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7ZkPyhYR-w).

This Weekend

We have no Community Outreach on Saturday morning (tomorrow).

On Sunday, we have a family busy and full day. We have Small Groups at 10:30 AM, followed by our Easter Sunday Service at 11:30 AM – where we can rejoice as we are reminded of the Resurrection (without which, our faith is empty).

After the Service, we have our Monthly Bring & Share. We invite you to come and bring something that you can share with everyone. We also have an Easter Egg Hunt organised for the children. We heartily invite you to come and join us for the day, and feel free to invite others also.

Because it’s a full day, we won’t have our Evening Service.

Homework Club – We are starting a Homework Club on Wednesday 27th April, at 5:30 PM. It will be on every Wednesday at that time (during term-times). Our goal is to communicate the gospel to children in the area, as well as their families, by providing a time where the children can do homework in a safe, social space, which will be followed by a Bible lesson and some crafts/activities. Please spread the word, and help us reach families in the are.

That’s quite a few things we’ve got going on, and we want to thank the Lord for it all, and we recognise that in all of it, we are dependent upon Him. Please pray for us. We love you all in the Lord.

Ric.
