Weekly Update – 17/12/2021

Hey folks, how are you all? We have just one more week until Christmas, and we have been occupied with a few things here at Downham Baptist Church – but in everything we give thanks and we desire to do all things to the glory of God. Here’s an update of what’s been going on:

On Saturday we had our Church Christmas Party. Thank you to those who came along and we missed all of those who were unable to make it. The Christmas season’s not over yet, and we have a few more things planned (more on that later).

On Tuesday, Sam was up in Colchester, continuing to do the work there. The folks up there are hoping to have their Carol Service this coming Sunday evening, so please be in prayer for them and for the Lord to use this event to reach out to unsaved people in the area.

On Wednesday evening we enjoyed our monthly Men’s Fellowship and Ladies’ Fellowship. The Ladies went through Psalm 138 while the Men continued their study on Deacons. Moments like these have been a great time to encourage one another and grow together as God’s people. Next week, we will be resuming our Bible Study on the Book of Revelation at 7:00 PM.

On Thursday (yesterday) Travis, Sam, and I met up to discuss and plan for next year. Please pray for us, that the Lord would give us wisdom to skilfully and with the integrity of our hearts lead God’s people at Downham.

As I mentioned earlier, the Christmas Season isn’t over, and so here are some of the things we have planned along with our normal weekly services/meetings:

  • Saturday 18th – Youth Christmas Party (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM)
  • Sunday 19th – Morning Carol Service (11:30 AM) and Evening (non-traditional) Carol Service (5:00 PM)
  • Saturday 25th – Christmas Day Service (11:00 AM)
  • Sunday 26th – Boxing Day Service (11:30 AM)

We heartily invite you to join us for the programmes mentioned above. We desire to provide a Christ-like and Christ-centred community for our fellow believers where they can be nurtured and grow.

We also encourage you to invite friends and family to our upcoming events as we seek to bless them and share the good news of our Saviour, the Lord Jesus, with them.

We love you guys in the Lord.

Ric
